  • Hareem Al Sultan
  • Bint Al Arab
  • Abeer Al Majlis
  • Sheikha Mozah

Used for thousands of years, bakhour comes from the nomadic Arab tribes of the Middle East who, once established, burned agar wood chips to perfume the air, and get rid of insects and evil spirits. Nowadays, and as is the case with oud, bakhour is commonly used in locals - in candles, incense or home deodorants.

Bakhour is a more delicate way to enjoy the scent of oud. Bakhour is the name given to agar wood shavings dipped in jasmine and sandalwood, which softens and sweetens the powerful smell of oud. It is also used in amber and citrus essential oils for a more pungent smell. These shavings are then compressed and trimmed before being packaged and presented as small blocks of equal size. These pieces will then be burned, in the premises, in a coal stove or an electric burner(available here) in order to obtain volutes of smoke that will perfume the room.
